    Mighty Mouse

I just bought mine 2 weeks ago in Orlando.. it was ALL amazing until now. It Squeaks!!!!! I checked online and saw that others had the same thing as well.. I can’t see how Apple got it wrong here.. I mean they were the ones who started the ‘mouse’ thing decades ago with their first macs. It’s a plastic to plastic irritating squeaky noise.. just horrible after hearing it for a couple of hours. It’s like scratching glass on marble or something and then shatters, or the irritating bed that squeaks or the door that doesn’t seem to shut right only a squeak in the end.. agghghghhgh. Logitech here I come!!

Don’t get Logitech! Their software is nonexistant on the Mac and you NEED their software in order to drive both the mouse and the keyboard properly. I have tried for weeks to get them to work but gave up… just not worth it. I read on support forums etc that the Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combos are much better (ironically!) and work quite well on the Mac.

The squeek by the way is a design feature, NOT a flaw. As it gently reminds you of its namesake as you’re using it 😀

I’ve installed and used it for a day and a bit now and I can tell you a few things:

    1. WOW
    2. Why hasn’t anyone thought of that ball that allows you to scroll in any direction? And act as a button too!
    3. I didn’t get used to the rightclick yet, as it seems to be a way lower than it should be (or I’m used to)
    4. because there are NO left and right buttons, and the software driving it is sweet, it is perfect for left-handers.. hence I bought another one for my daughter Amna!

So far, I am very very impressed.

I didn’t expect it to be available in Bahrain yet, but they tell me that they have quite a few in stock!

The mouse works quite well on Windows XP systems too, being USB and you don’t need to load any extra software to use it in Windows…

    A fix for the squeeks!

Seems to me to be a design flaw. It could be an alignment problem when they put them together. I’v had one for one week….its driving me nuts. So i desided to fiddle a bit and descovered if you hold the mouse in your right have and turn it so you can see the bottom, then using your left hand thumb nail grab the under side bottom piece of the mouse and apply pressur towards the left the squeeking will stop. For how long i dont know. The squeek is not audio feedback its plastic binding! I’m smiling now hope this lasts.

Mine started squeeking after a few weeks of use, today in fact! The fix to stop the squeek posted here worked for me. I think Apple need to know about it so the design can be improved. Its still the best mouse on the market for my needs.
