Bullets on the Beach

Bullets on the Beach, originally uploaded by malyousif.

Walking the dogs (you can see Gnasher in the frame) on Barbar beach (yes that’s one word and it is a village in Bahrain) I found a collection of expended bullets all over the place…. Fine, you have shotguns and you like shooting fish (there ain’t nuffin else there, other than terns and small birds) but pick up your mess when you’re done!

Here’s a close-up:

They’re not, but you can get a license. I don’t know under what circumstance, but I know it is extremely difficult.

The bullets might well have been used to kill crows by the environmental agencies/police, or to kill stray dogs. That’s the only explanation I have. Although the “evidence” suggests that they were shot for pleasure. The car tracks going all over the beach suggest good 4-wheel-drive vehicles and the empty cases and carton supports that too.

I hope someone comes up with answers.

Ahh Mahmood you deserve a nice shotgun and a 9mm on your hip! My 9mm is like an American Express card. I don’t leave home without it! Besides with your daughters getting to that “DATING” age and all good fathers should own a shotgun… or two! Helps keep the ‘”boys” honest and on their toes!

Plus think of the fear you could have installed into those jackasses who you caught dumping shit all over the beach!

Mahmood. Hawaii has a adopt a highway program. Maybe you could start such a program in Bahrain. The way it works is an individual, group or company adopts a streach of road or in your case it could also be beach, then pays for a small sign that is put up on the highway. They are then responsible to pick up litter at regular intervals and deposit it in bags supplied by the state who will then pick up the bags. Seems to work fine. The company or group gets free advertising and in return our highways are cleaner than what the state could do.

Ù‹Well idiots will dump rubbish anywhere and everywhere unless there are stringent laws and punishments… even if u did a one of large-scale clean up operation, it’ll get littered again. Who is responsible? The municipality, the parliament? Is there a lack of funding/resources to have street-cleaners or rubbish collectors?

I didn’t know owning a rifle in Bahrain was legal? – You should have been a good samaritan and handed the bullets over to your local police station.
