Open Mic Minor Miracle in Iraq

Who ever thought both of these guys would be alive and for the better part OK? THANK GOODNESS!

Troops Rescue U.S. Hostage in Iraq

    By SINAN SALAHEDDIN, AP
BAGHDAD, Iraq (Sept. 7) – Coalition forces acting on a tip from an Iraqi detainee Wednesday rescued American hostage Roy Hallums from an isolated farm house south of Baghdad, a military statement said. An Iraqi also was rescued.

The 57-year-old contractor, formerly of Newport Beach, Calif., had been held since being kidnapped at gunpoint from his office in Baghdad’s Mansour district on Nov. 1, 2004

“Hallums is in good condition and is receiving medical care,” the military said.

Tell me praytell o exaulted one that you are just how is GOOD news BAD for the conversation UNLESS you are one that LIKES to see people kidnapped and killed? Well what is it?

  9. anonymous

    Open Mic

Even if it’s not BAD news current events aren’t always GOOD for the conversation when the conversation didn’t really have to do with NEWS and then you had to ruin the moment and talk about NEWS and how is that GOOD for a conversation all it will do is encourage BAD comments like mine and how is that ever GOOD if we were supposed to have a GOOD conversation unless of course you’re not one of those people who LIKE to have a good conversation and you just LIKE to sit here and talk about GOOD news. Well I have BAD news for you I don’t have anything to say about the GOOD news and apparently no one else came up with something GOOD to say in 24 hours either, so, in sum, you KILLED the conversation.

    Did you get it?

    GOOD.

I suggest munchmuffin you read what Mahmood left concerning this post. Since you haven’t (or can’t) I will place it here for you.
As I’ll be on an extended business trip, this space is completely open to you to share your thoughts, and talk about any important or less than important topics if you like.

It’s an open space, an open mic, so have fun…
So how does that compute? Pretty deep huh? Alas you can always fall back on the tried and true concept of IGNORING a post if you don’t like it. Then that might be to easy of a concept for you to wrap the missfiring neurons and synapses in your cranium around. Till then why don’t you sit back and roll yourself a fattie or fill your bong and enjoy life.Better yet, tell you what…try this.. Have three shots of Jack Daniels and take a drive on the freeway with your lights off. The we can all have something to talk about!

You know you can ignore this too, but the Gulf Daily News some how seems to me to not reflect the wonderful flavor of the people of Bahrain. I don’t see pictures of Bahrainian people that often.

Actually I’m on a desktop. If I had a laptop I wouldn’t be ‘banging’ my keys, I would wrap a piece of kleenex on my fingertips and type oh so gently.

    “Well I am creative”
I’m glad you have the ability to convince yourself. Take another deep breath, the next phrase is, “I am EL CONQUISTADOR! RAWR!”

“So guys like me get to go clean up other peoples shit piles. I am RESULTS oriented. Don’t really care if people like you notice.”

    Really? Seriously? Okay, cool.

    “Glad you like my diction”
Too bad it reeks of pretentiousness.

“You post isn’t bad Munchmuffin. You might have a future banging your laptop keys for the New York Times.”

I scored a compliment. Hip hip, hooray! You just helped me get my life back on the speedy track.

If you think IGNORING a post you don’t like is ideal then you would have IGNORED my post since you obviously didn’t LIKE it so if you want to SUGGEST something then you should consider trying to APPLY it to yourself first to see whether or not that actually WORKS. Get it? GOOD!
Then that might be to easy of a concept for you to wrap the missfiring neurons and synapses in your cranium around.
Your impressive diction just tickled my spine.

A violent sense of humour AND a wild imagination? You certainly lead an exciting existence.

You’ll probably get out a twin bee and shoot the conversation to death. I doubt anyone will pay attention.

Nah Munchmuffin I prefer a Beretta 9000 9mm with 10 in the clip and one in the pipe, to shoot stuff down. Been my handgun of choice for many years and it has yet to fail me. Put a laser sight on it too, just play follow the little red dot and your locked and loaded. Went the Glock route for about a month and while it was nice I prefer the Beretta. I don’t follow the BIGGER is always BETTER mentality.

Wild imagination? Exciting existence? Well I am creative and I have done my bit for God and Country. As I have often said “Been there, done that and yep I got the T Shirt.” Violent only if required. I would rather make love than war but it seems many don’t subscribe to that thought. So guys like me get to go clean up other peoples shit piles. I am RESULTS oriented. Don’t really care if people like you notice. Sorry if that bother you as it seems it does.

Glad you like my diction. Anytime you need a good verbal dopeslap upside your head let me know. I will be happy to oblige. You post isn’t bad Munchmuffin. You might have a future banging your laptop keys for the New York Times. I hear they haven’t filled that fraud Jayson Blair’s desk yet. Your creative enough for the dying Gray Lady.
I love bahrain
I don’t know whether you’re being sarcastic here or not, but I’ve been to many amazing places in my life. When I’m in Bahrain, I kick and whine while counting the days to when I’ll have to leave again, but once I’m out, I can’t help but feel out of place. You really know what you’ve left behind when the first thing you say as the plane lands in Muharaq is “home sweet home.” That feeling is just ineffable. I love Bahrain with every fiber of my being, and I can’t wait till it’s Christmas so I can go back to where everyday isn’t just a mere routine.

    Re(2): Open Mic

I would think that 50% of the ones saying “oooooo” would say it in a “heard that a bajillion times, someone please come up with something more witty and original” way.

At least, that’s the meaning between my “ooooo.”

one of the little joys in life was yelling at a disfuncitonal saudi driver in front of his wife who was covered head to tow in black after he did something stupid behind the wheel ..

Bahrain Centre for Human Rights said that they were trying to ‘protect’ them, and so are the embassies of places like Indonesia and the Philippines. But, it’s kind of impossible to. Some maids are imprisoned.

It’s apparently the new ‘in’ to have a maid.

I think I was the only kid in school who wasn’t raised by a maid. I was raised by something much worse, though: Cable TV.

Maids have the most heart-wrenching stories. I spent like 5 hours talking to my friend’s maid a few weeks ago, about Indonesia’s civil wars and the clashing of cultural and religious beliefs. I’m very intrigued and moved by these things.

That’s the only good thing about having maids – they really deserve much more than what they get. I loathe people, especially kids, who treat maids like ‘slaves,’ and sadly, many people do. And not only in Saudi, I’ve heard horrible cases from places like Oman and Kuwait.

    Re: Open Mic

i thought bahrain was a district of somalia, not senegal.

i am also not sure that the bahrain center for human rights can do anything for the maids. i think the state needs to have safe houses that are protected, they need legislaiton and labor courts that can guarantee their well being. and most of all, the society’s attitude towards hired help has got to change – and i dont know how that can be done . it absolutely disgusting how they force the maids to wear a hijab and how they think that it is their right to watch over them night and day. who cares what people do in their private lives? normal jobs have normal working hours. the employer is not master of his employee. this mentality has got to be applied to domestic help. otherwise, its plain slavery.
