Bahraini crowned Formula BMW Asia 2005 Champion!

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, the Formula BMW Asia 2005 ChampionCongratulations to Salman bin Rashid for winning the hard-fought Formula BMW Asia championship, and I think the second on that sheet is a Bahraini as well, Hamad Al-Fardan so well done to him too.

Mtc-Bulls Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa walked into the history books once again securing the Formula BMW Asia 2005 Championship. In true style Shaikh Salman drove a cautious and smooth race working his way from seventh place to fifth.

Starting in pole was Armaan Ebrahim from Korean Team E-Rain who finished second in 22.18.067mins, just behind Michael Patrizi in 22.17.266 and in third place was Aaron Lim in 22.21.775mins. Needing just three points to win the championship, Mtc-Bulls Shaikh Salman simply worked his way round the track, not willing to take any risks and finished the 10laps, a total of 54.320kms in 22.26.683mins. The final race of the season saw some very skilful driving showing the progress of the racers during the year. Fellow Bahraini racer, Hamed Al Fardan led for nine laps and finally finished ninth in 22.38.967mins. Mtc-Bulls Shaikh Salman has finally wrapped up the series worth $20,000 but is just outside the regulations to take the prize of a full free season in the Formula BMW UK championship in 2006.

and Dubai can kiss my ass for building an F1 “theme park” to operate by 2008… you might have the money, but you most certainly don’t have the talent! 😉

He’d be a damn fool if it moved over there. They directly compete with him with the A1.. or try to… that doesn’t send warm fuzzies over his body, does it?

I must say Congratulations to Salman bin Rashid , but the comment about an F1 Theme Park is a bit harsh, you must realise that F1 will move to Dubai after the current 4 year contract runs out in Bahrain. It was only won by Bahrain in the first place because they outbid Dubai with the nice handshake given to little Bernie. I’d rather see it stay in Bahrain but at the end of the day money still talks, and with the infurstructure in Dubai compared with Bahrain it will sadly win the race.

I know. Bernie doesn’t have friends, only interests, and there is nothing that stops the money juggernaut. But we’ve got a few more years to go on this franchise, and I think there are a number of years (undisclosed) as options after the first stint is done. If this is the case, then what Dubai will build would be a nice showpiece, but nothing else. Oh hang on, maybe they can use it for the A1 series!

Is Bahrain participating in the A1 shindig by the way? Anyone know?
