Welcome to the Bahrain Islamic Muttawa Dictatorship

My blood pressure is so high that it’s probably not safe to write at the moment, so I’ll check cut and paste to show you how low Bahrain has become, under the true leadership of pseudo-theocrats like Mohammed Abdulghaffar:

Teatro faces the music… show banned
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Abdulghaffar, has announced a decision to permanently ban the “Teatro restaurant in Dana Mall from holding live concerts.
The Egyptian singer Hakim was scheduled to be performing tonight at the Teatro as part of the weekly Thursday concerts of Arab bands. Sources told Bahrain Tribune that the decision came as a response to pressure from some radicals, who claimed that the mall was a shopping facility and was not meant for live concerts.

The Teatro restaurant had opened its doors last month at a cost of over BD400, 000.

Tourism in spotlight
By SOMAN BABY

BAHRAIN is pushing to turn health tourism into a major industry, Information Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar said yesterday.

The newly-proposed independent body for tourism will also give special attention to health tourism activities in the Kingdom, he told the GDN.

Dr Abdul Ghaffar was speaking after opening the third International Health Tourism (IHT) exhibition at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, Sanabis.

The guy doesn’t know if he’s coming or going does he? Is that a good quality for a Minister of State to have I wonder?

Mr. Government, if your boot is shiny, please use it. And if you have any time left, PLEASE close that dispicable Ministry of DISinformation, Thought Control and Depleter of Personal Freedoms.

And where the hell are parliament from all this? Oh sorry, they’re the people who encouraged this, uh, minister to close the only good, family oriented, non-alcoholic, non-shisha-smoking entertainment we HAD.

And everybody is bitching that they’re not making money out of international events like the Formula 1? Get a load from Abdulghaffar’s finest boys and girls. If you want entertainment AND INVESTMENT go to Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, or Oman where you will be welcomed with wide open arms.

Not here. We’re pompous (oops, sorry, I meant pious) soals waiting for Heaven!

Welcome to the Bahrain Islamic Muttawa Dictatorship

It’s sad to see that another investor is unsatisfied with Bahrain. If the people and the government don’t deal with this problem sooner or later the rest of the investors are going to pull their investments out of Bahrain. I hope the people have realised that religion and democracy don’t go well together. The only solution to this problem is to separate religion from state.

Welcome to the Bahrain Islamic Muttawa Dictatorship

    Mahmood,

There is so much tourist potential in the middle east and much oil resource money to develop this tourism. You guys have a gold mine there.

The thought that millions of people with arthritis or other ailments that a warm climate relieve would flock to your land is a good thought. If you invested in medical clinics and doctors etc. you’d get even more people going there. AND on top of that the other kinds of tourists
who love to play in big resorts. Money, money, money…

… so we need to get the uptight muttawa to relax and lighten up,
get them to see that all these potential guests of Bahrain might be interested in learning about the real Islam not the backward version preached by some fanatics. The rewards will be great and
many people are interested in your culture and many many more would travel there if the politico-religious bunch were more tolerant.

PS The connection to the Bahrain Tribune dose not work. AND I e-mailed a friend and some of my brothers a copy of the article you wrote about the Foundation of Arabic Thought and they were also impressed. Very good excellent were the replies.

Re: Welcome to the Bahrain Islamic Muttawa Dictatorship

Is there nothing we can do?? Do we have to sit and watch them take all our rights away?? All our freedom of choice?? Can someone explain to me why is it that in country that allows alchohol and prostitution openly, I am being banned from attending a concert with my family in a decent atmosphere?? At least i am comfortable that if my daughters decide to go alone they wont be harrased by some drunk b*!! Why are they focusing on such issues like a concert and turning a blind eye to the serious issues facing this country?? How can we have any reform if everyone is pulling in a different direction and we are not working together for the better of this country?? Why arent we trying to create jobs by helping these foreign investments as opposed to replacing low-class expat jobs with Bahraini’s?? Wouldnt you rather have your son, brother, father work in a first class restaurant then as a garbage man or car cleaner or petrol station clerk?? With all my respect to these jobs and everyone that does them, but i dont think that they pay half as much taking into consideration the effort and tediousness of the job!! Dont we want to improve the status of the bahraini national as opposed to humiliate him?? You need to give in order to get!! Its a two way thing and everyone needs to work together…. the government cant do it on its own if it has everyone standing in its way….
Teatro is a very decent and family oriented place. In the several times i’ve been there i’ve seen nothing but totally respectable people attending, families with their children, women with hejab(islamic veil). If you are unhappy with the atmosphere, dont go… Just like I cant ban nightclubs and bars even though i dont like the atmosphere, why can they ban my choice of entertainment??
By the way, the restaurant is so well designed to the extent that you cant hear any music inside the mall even when the door is open!!!
I am so frustrated with this whole islamic dictatorship(so perfectly worded!), I remember a time when Bahrain had a concert every eid, every occasion possible… I remember a time when people weren’t afraid to visit bahrain… I remember a time when we were considered the heaven of the gulf…. I hope i dont look back one day and say things like, I remember a time when women could drive cars, or i remember a time when we had a mixed work environment, when shops didnt close at prayer time, when i could wear what i want, eat what i want, sleep when i want!! Its seems like we always take one step forward, then three steps back…. Too sad. Hasafa yal bahrain 🙁

Things are getting better, we had the culture festival and two Lebanese female singers with Fahdel Shaker in Gulf Hotel without incidents. Also I heard Nancy Agram, and Hayfa are comming soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

You need people to try and challenge taboos and try to push the limits. and not be afraid to give deaf ears to the Mottawa and not bend to critisisim . We Bahrainis are so sensitive and are afraid to challenge these guys, for example what happened with Nancy and Big Brother. Ive always thought Bahrain needed Lebenese buisness men like Dubai , and it seems they are starting to invade Bahrain. Sawt Al Ghad, Karla Bistro, Weight Watchers and others. We will see more changes to the better soon I think. Also Alaryan is a stuborn and brave guy but he can bud heads with Motawa not the Goverment too.
