2005 Mahmood’s Den Stats

UNBELIEVABLE!

I didn’t think Mtv was THAT popular! I bet it’s all spam though 😉

But over 18 million hits, over 7.3 million pageviews and most importantly over 1.1 million sessions IN SIX MONTHS is absolutely staggering.

Thank you ever so much for your support and friendship.

Now how the hell can I make money out of this thing and give up my day job to just concentrate on Mtv? 😀

Here’s a useless stat for you; if you multiply the number of sessions we’ve had in 6 months with the average length of the session, you would see that people have spent almost 21 man-years on Mahmood’s Den in that time-period.

As I said at the start, unbelievable!

Wow man, those are freakin awesome stats you’ve got there. I wouldn’t have even imagined that this site would be an unbelievable hit. Great job and congrats :D.

    Keep it up :).

Congratulations! In terms of what’s the primary news source about Bahrain any idea how this compares with the number of hits the GDN site receives?

Heaps of congratulations. I’m not surprised, though, because you blog frequently, literately, honestly and with tongue-in-cheek sometimes. It keeps the “old” readers coming back and brings in the new. I lived in Bahrain in 1965 and 1966, then again for several months in 1980 and 1981, so my interest goes back a long time. When I found your blog a couple years ago, it was the answer to a prayer. While the Trib and GDN provide a bit of news, it’s seldom the “good stuff” that I want to hear about. So, thanks Mahmood, for your devotion to this blog and may your readership continue to grow and amaze you.
Moneymaking on a blog, well, you know how to do that. Some of the best political blogs here in the USA have plenty of advertisers, and are not averse to putting out a tip jar.
    All the best. juliyya

Alf Alf Mabrook! I absolutely agree juliyya. Mtv has been a Godsend, it’s restored my faith that liberal-minded Arabs can have a real impact in our countries and that we might not be the “silent” majority for much longer. I sincerely believe we have found a clear and articulate voice of moderation and reason incarnated in a middle-aged jovial familyman from a little island with a big heart. Keep it up Mahmood !

Great! Shows how M.tv is just attracting people from different backgrounds, I like this site because Mahmood speaks what HE thinks of things, then opens it up for discussions. We sometimes agree with him and sometimes we don’t. It’s his “osloob” that makes us come back. Plus he is unbiased and doesn’t have that mentality where someone is right or wrong. It’s all about a better Bahrain to him. Keep it up!

Hey Man….well done on the stats, if must feel very gratifying!

I reckon that because your site was created before blogging became main stream, you managed to fill a niche in the blogging market. This is a place where surfers can come and express their views wether or not they agree with you and other readers. People are also able to sign up and feel like they’re part of a communmity. Mahmood’s Den is certianly unique in the blogging world, at least in the Middle East.

I thought you put google adds on here at one point.

Gr8 stuff, an achievement to cherish, and may it continue to grow and prosper. Bravo keep it up. In my line of work I keep getting in touch with people who’d like to better understand Bahrain and get to know its pulse, and apart from directing them to GDN and Bah Trib. sites for news my first recommendation is always M.tv.

I’ll second that! But you might run into copyright problems, I remember hearing Mtv somewhere else, before…I can’t remember where though!

Once again, thank you all for your support. I’ll just continue to do this until I get too bored with it. As for the money-making ideas, the merchandising idea is quite good and I did start a cafepress store but unfortunately didn’t follow up on that, maybe I should dig that up again. I stopped the google ads because that block slowed down the site somewhat and it is much more important to me to give you a good and fast loading time rather than the few dollars made by that ad. But I’ll have a look at these options again as it would be good if they can pay for the hosting charges at least.

    Right on!

Unlike other people we know about, M.tv. does not have an image problem, because Mahmood knows up from down and isn’t concerned with image unless it reflects reality.

AND it’s good to be vindicated, right pal?

Bahrain is one of my favourite countries.

    Augurwell

    PS Loads well too.

Rami of the acerbic wit has spoken, thus we should obey, especially with a self deluding signature that certainly puts back the escaped hot air into a much deflated ego!

Congratulations on the great stats for your website

    We’ve enjoyed reading it.

On an aside (As an Australian) how do think Bahrain will go in the same Qualification Group in the Asian Cup?

    cheers
