    عن ابى عبدالله (ع): «ان رسول الله (ص) اتى شبابا من الانصار، فقال: انى اريد ان اقرأ عليكم فمن بكى فله الجنة، فقرأ آخر الزمر: (و سيق الذين كفروا الى جهنم زمرا) الى آخر السورة، فبكى القوم جميعا الاّ شابّ، فقال: يا رسول الله قد تباكيت، فما قطرت عينى. قال: انى معيد عليكم، فمن تباكى فله الجنة، قال: فاعاد عليهم، فبكى القوم و تباكى الفتى، فدخلوا الجنة جميعاً».     ابن طاووس: روى عن آل الرسول (ص) انهم قالوا: «من بكى و ابكى فينا مائة فله الجنة، و من بكى و ابكى خمسين فله الجنة، و من بكى و ابكى ثلاثين فله الجنة، و من بكى و ابكى عشرين فله الجنة، و من بكى و ابكى عشرة فله الجنة، و من تباكى فله الجنة». (بحار: 44 / 287)

    قاتل الله إبليسك يا محمود، ضحكت وضحكت حتى كدت أصاب بتمزق في عضلات بطني المبارك إلا أني وبعد أن قرأت ما نقله لنا أبا رسول من بحار الأنوار تباكيت لمدة تراوحت ما بين ثلاث إلى عشر ثوان حتى أضمن الجنة!

    وكما قال عليه السلام “اگر گريه ات نيامد تباكى كن” أو بعد الترجمة الحرفية للعربية “إذا لم يأتك البكاء فتباكى” هذا والله أعلم إذ أن ما كنت أعرفه من الفارسية بدأ ينضب أو ربما يضمر لعدم الأستخدام (استخدمت يضمر تماشيا مع نظرية لامارك، رضي الله عنه، في التطور والمسماة اليوز والديسيوز أو الاستخدام وعدمه).

    Hi Mahmood. I tried out the Arabic translator to see if I could glean the meaning of the first two posts. From context and your response, it looks like the first and/or second poster was accusing you of being a Zionist? Next you’ll be accused of Libertarianism! ;-0

    No no not at all! It’s Google’s brainfart, but in their defence their translator is only beta. The first two posts had some sentences and phrases in Persian as well as Arabic and even the Arab is very classic (old use) and mixed in with the modern and colloquial, so as you observed it taxed Google to no end!

    The first post by Aburasool details some passages on why if you can’t bring yourself to cry at the narration of some tragedy in Muslim history, then at least pretend that you are crying, referring of course to the video clip. And if you do cry then you will have extra browny points when you get to Heaven.

    Hassan on the other hand in the second comment is saying that he fell on the floor laughing at the clip, but when he read Aburasool’s references, he cried for about 10 seconds to ensure that he got those browny points!

    Both are hilarious really, I’m sure Aburasool was probably trying to show me how hypocritical this situation is, backed up by heavy duty references that propagate such behaviour.

    A lot of nuances in both comments for a mortal Arab speaker to understand, let alone a machine translator.

    I wish I could say it as eloquently as you did, Mahmood.
    Yes, it is a hypocrisy sanctioned by high-powered religious references. (For more: just watch worshipper on next Friday or Sunday).
    Students of Durkheim would love the quote I posted. In his 1912 The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life, Emile Durkheim outlines a view that locates the origins of religion in society, rather than in the supernatural or in the individual human mind. In modern lingo: religion is a social construct. For D. totemism is the starting point for all that comes later. A totem, a feather, a bone or a complex statue , is not just an object. It is a symbol of the community. You show respect to the icon, you pray, or you cry if you happen to be the mullah on the video clip, not to practice piety but to show it. Showing piety is a confirmation of your continued membership in the community. (In primitive times your life depended on that membership).
    The quoted text implore people to SHOW (i.e. reconfirm) their membership in the community the belong to by shedding tears. And, if they cannot muster real tears, they should pretend to shed tears. (Hence ex-communication: which also entails preventing someone from ‘showing’ his community membership).
