You know, as I was posting last night, and looked for Alkhobar pics to add a little ‘flavour’ to it, I saw a few that made me reminisce and think of all my adventures and experiences..including the ones in Bahrain. A bitter sweet one as one of our friends who moved to Bahrain to escape Saudi, even though he had to make the great trek up the Causeway everyday to work at Aramco…he got hit by a saudi driver (hit and run), t-bone style and died of his injuries. He and his wife loved living in Bahrain and after Saudi could appreciate their freedoms very much. All things being relative.. (cause you’d argue the freedom part as not being enough or good enough..) Seeing you post on the gettogether makes me wish I could just join you, maybe I can see if I can round up some Austin bloggers for a monthly tada..although I don’t know any at this point. Ingrid
Sorry to hear that about your friend Ingrid. The get together once a month is a brilliant thing to do and we have Haitham to thank for that as he initiated the very first one (although he doesn’t join us any more! So Haitham, no excuse this time!! ;)) and is painless to organise and a lot of fun seeing each other face to face…
This “method” has now been replicated with a lot of other activities in Bahrain, for instance the Porsche club now meet every first Saturday of the month!
how did the bloggers’ meetup go? sorry couldn’t make it.. was holed up at the radisson until 11pm.. the plan was to get off by 9pm and come over to Cinabbon.. but then I met all these other ‘anon’ bloggers at the radisson, I think we need to thank Chanad for that and my blog was labelled as ‘problamatic’ by someone who wanted 8 hours to explain it out 😀 …
any pics?
