I got rather frustrated with the amount of maintenance and manual updates I have had to do on BahrainBlogs.org running WordPress and a no longer maintained feed aggregator plugin that I had to find a radical solution to fix this mess. Thankfully, I fell upon a mention of an aggregator in progress how-to-install post on one of the Bahraini blogs (sorry I couldn’t remember which one at the moment) and that led me ultimately to Gergarius.
No sooner than looking at a couple of sample sites and perusing their wiki for a few minutes than I felt convinced that this is a better solution for our purpose than the WordPress + Plugin combo, and sure enough, after a painless install and configure process, and a faultless import of the full FeedBurner 106 blog OPML file, the site was up and running in less than 10 minutes!
REMEMBER: The aggregator’s address now is http://bahrainblogs.org/rss so please update your bookmarks! This is because I’m going to add a community blogging service on the root URL soon.
You have got to check the features and spend some time on it, I am sure you will love it. But let me know if you have any observations etc. I’m still learning about the system, so there might be changes here and there, or even scrap the whole thing and start all over again with another system!

It looks u misspelled even the word “Bahrain” there, Mahmood!
Haji Zaal.. A typo is no problem.. we should all thank Mahmood for the mammooth effort he is putting into something we all take for granted.
Thanks Mahmood.. How about you circling a date in your calendar for that dinner??? Sometime after the 10th???
Agreed. It was just a friendly teaser, between a host and guest.
done SBG, any time!
lol the typo is still there.
Very nice interface, *thumbs up*
Thanks Mahmood. I checked the site, can’t be better.
You are a talented man with many creative ideas 😉
looks like Bloglines Bahrain! thanks for this great initiative Mahmood (and for dishing out server space and bandwidth generously & WP luv!)
Excellent work! Wasn’t expecting this, the new interface is sexy and navigation through it is a lot more user friendly, I love that I can look up older entries a lot more easily and quickly then with the old site.
Good luck with the blogging platform you are setting up!
Thanks all.
MoClippa what’s happened to your blog? It’s disappeared and all I get from the previous feed is spam. Did you move it? I hope you didn’t stop blogging because yours was a definite daily visit for me.
Bring it back, bring it back! (please?)
Yeah Mahmood, sorry about that, apparently Google likes to fill ex-blogs with spam…
I keep tabs on the Bahrain blogsphere all the time, but I’ve removed mine completly and haven’t been planning on getting back into it.
To be honest, I really do want to come back to Bahrain and play a part in its development. I just didn’t want something I said when I was 20 coming back to bite me in the ass later on, if that makes any sense? People take things too realistically and too personally these days for a person like me to want to risk the chance at doing something worthwhile over something as silly as a blogpost!
Fair enough.
So shall I put up the full cached version of your previous site up now, or after you receive my bank account number? 8)
Preferably now? Guess I’m probably being an idiot about the whole thing and deserve a kick in the ass to say it doesn’t bloody matter!
Nah, you’re being too sensitive and you forget that people are generally very forgiving… look at the crop of MPs we have now, and ministers for that matter, don’t you think they have (probably) horrific closets full of skeletons? Doesn’t everyone?
And you were blogging anonymously anyway, so it doesn’t really matter that much. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t stop!
