REPENT!

I was just looking through my Flickr stream and came across this recent picture I took in Manhattan, NY. Was reminded of the place and its hodgepodge of cultures and people from all corners of the world, yet, they mostly live in peace with each other and even enjoy each other’s company. Even with the presence of some who could be classified as crackpots. Yet, they just live… and let live.

I just hope that this spirit of coexistence returns back to this fractious country soon with the establishment of a better democracy and better respect for human rights.

Here’s to hope.

America could use better democracy and better respect for human rights too.

But yes, I also wish Bahrain would be the free, tolerant, international leader in the Gulf.

I don’t think that either of us are looking for perfection. It’s a nice concept to aspire to of course, but reality and pragmatism will always win that battle.

Talking relatively too, I think the distance between what is applied in the USA and here would probably out-distance the actual kilometers that physically separates us.

    For now.

You got it Mahmood, it is the democracy and civil rights that bring such mix of cultures to live in harmony. I have been to Malaysia which have Malays, Chinese and Indians who live equally and in peace because they are treated the same by the law as citizens. No one feels the supremacy because he or she is from certain sect. They even marry from each other. This is why malaysia attracts such millions of tourists.
