This diet really works!

How about this:

Koala, a female elephant in Rio de Janeiro Zoo, lost some 1,100 lb (500 kg) in about four months without any exercise after peanuts and bread were completely taken out of her diet and her ration of bananas was halved to just 120 a day.

‘She had a huge rear part with excessive fat on the sides,’ biologist Valdir Ramos Junior told Reuters on Thursday. Koala started on the diet weighing 5 tons eight months ago, but lost most of the weight in the past four months, he said.

‘But the diet wasn’t just for the looks, as despite having very strong legs, their tendons are very sensitive … and a lot of weight can cause tendon problems.’

Koala turns 39 on Saturday. She is now eating 330 pounds (150 kg) of food per day, mostly grass, as well as vegetables and various fruit. The desirable weight for her would be 4.2 tons, Ramos said.

I AM OBESE. Phew! That took some doing… now that I’ve owned up to the fact, it’s time to do something serious about it. I have stopped going to the gym 6 months ago. I’m too embarrassed to go to the gym in my shape again. I eat too much, drink too much and smoke too much.

Let’s see if I can tackle this problem and get to be not quite an Adonis, but for God’s sake I’ve got to do something about my way of life… time for a change.

But the one you’re using doesn’t

Yeah, I’m sticking my nose in again.

First thing I’d suggest you do is go see a doctor. Explain that you recognise that you have a problem and that you’re prepared to do whatever it takes to change your lifestyle, because frankly you’re on a one-way journey to an early grave. They’ll probably run tests on you and provide you with a food plan and an exercise program. There’s no such thing as a diet. There’s only a change in lifestyle. It’s hard. I know. I’ve walked where you’re walking now. Never surrender. Never cheat. And follow the food and exercise plan to the letter. You’ll make the target weight in 9 months. Shit! You could even become the Adonis in that time with a little extra effort. But start small. Go see your doctor TODAY!

Yes I completely agree. I’ve been using that “too busy” excuse not to go and see the doctor. I also realize that “only a fool is his own doctor” so I better had to see a doctor to set up a proper plan that is going to work for me, taking all the factors into consideration, rather than me blow up my heart doing exercise that I can’t handle (that was the primary reason why I stopped going to the gym – over-doing it)

So thank you for the push, it’s good advice.

It’s funny isn’t it, that we all fall into a rut in time that only a heart attack budges? Well I am doing something about my “groove” before the heart attack! and I think other than seeing a doctor, it’s like that movie says: “baby steps”, ie, achievable incremental goals.

I’ll keep at it and I will win…

I don’t believe the scales any more

at least the set we have at home. after almost a month of walking, not drinking, etc, I just lost 4kgs according to the scales a few days ago, I tried again yesterday and it says that I’ve gained 1kg from what I started out at!

time to buy another and see how that goes!

does a couple of red wine glasses count?

taken medicinally while with a visiting friend? guess not!

Everything else is status quo… 🙂
