    Cyclists

Dear all, I happened to see the photo and the comment about the Bahrain Cycling Association.
My name is Vibhaker and I happened to work in Bahrain between 1979 to 1986. Around 1984 end or early 1985 Bahrain officially held races under the auspices of the Bahrain Cycling Association. It was one Mr. Mohammed Khamis Juma who was the secretary of the association. I took part in the first race and the races conducted thereafter and stood among the first three. There were lots of expatriates from Germany, Austria, Scotland, France, Srilanka, Pakistan and me from India. The stiff competion I faced was from Udo Weider who won almost all races. Then there was Gerhard Fruewirth, Mort Deas, Hiran CB Fernando and others. Bahraini riders slowly joined and there were quite a few who showed a lot of promise. We had a lot of support from the police department and the races were well organised. If there is any further information that can be shared, I would be delighted. I can be contacted at vibhaker@rediffmail.com and my mobile which is +9198410 40000.
