AUTHORITIES are attempting to spread awareness of a scheme that allows expatriates who reach their pensionable age to retire in Bahrain.
Under the scheme, they are granted a five-year self-sponsorship residence permit as long as they meet certain conditions.
It was launched last year and is open to foreigners who have lived in Bahrain for a minimum period of 15 years.
“They must have a minimum bank deposit of BD5,000 and a regular monthly income of BD500 from their personal assets in Bahrain or abroad,” said Under-Secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
“They should also produce a medical insurance certificate and certificates for good health and good conduct. “A certificate from the General Organisation for Social Insurance (Gosi), showing that they have reached pension age, should also be presented.”

I thought you were wealthy! Wealthy people don’t ask for “not to (sic) expensive” properties! 🙂
The rule is: if you ask how much does it cost, then you can’t afford it.
