I rescued this rose-ringed parakeet a couple of years ago when it flopped from its nest in our garden. She turned against me for some reason and now does flying attacks at me whenever she gets a chance. This film is proof that these bloody green vicious things are intelligent and never forget!

Reminds me a bit of that Emu that used to be on TV and attack people all the time!
ah now I get it! I’m sure that would be a lot more painful (well, a bit anyway) than Filbert’s chomps 🙂
Filbert is . . . nuts.
She is!
But parakeets are apparently a one-person animal. That person used to be me, then it was my wife and now she’s more completely our maids.
That’s life.
Right now in So Florida it is breeding season and that alone makes them really mean. I can’t get anywhere near my male cockatiel and he always acts that way toward my husband!
Could well be, but she’s still a juvenile at 3 I guess, but hormones are hormones!
How did you find out it was a female?
bright green ring around her neck, rather than the black and red typical of the male. she’s now 3, so admittedly there is another year before we make sure.
“…but hormones are hormones!” 😀
Despite the vicious attacks, Filbert is still a cute, little rose-ringed parakeet. Maybe she’ll calm down if she had a parakeet playmate.
Oh no. One is more than enough!
